Course Overview
This role exists across the Further Education and Skills (FES) sector, including FE colleges, sixth forms, training providers, adult education, and offender learning. Teachers typically work with learners aged 16 and over, delivering academic, vocational, or technical education, often up to Level 3 and sometimes beyond.
Learning and Skills Teachers plan and deliver engaging, up-to-date lessons that support learners to progress in education or employment. Many are dual professionals, combining industry and teaching expertise to offer high-quality learning experiences.
They work with diverse student groups and collaborate with colleagues, employers, and other stakeholders. Teachers must be flexible, inclusive, and committed to ongoing professional development. They may also manage teams or budgets, and are responsible for ensuring students gain the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for future success.


Qualification Achieved
On completion of this apprenticeship, apprentice will hold a Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship.
Additional qualifications achieved include:
- Level 2 Functional Skills Maths (If Applicable)
- Level 2 Functional Skills English (If Applicable)
Progression
The role may act as a gateway to further career and training opportunities, including, but not limited to:
- Lead Teacher or Senior Lecturer in a specific subject area
- Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) with a Level 4 IQA qualification
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
Learning and Assessment
Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
End Point Assessment
Each apprentice must undergo an independent end-point assessment to determine the outcome of their apprenticeship. The assessments will evaluate the knowledge, skills and behaviours gained during their programme. The methods in which this apprenticeship is assessed are:
- Assessment method 1 - Observation with questioning
- Assessment method 2 - Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements for apprenticeships vary depending on the level and type of apprenticeship, as well as the employer.
General requirements be:
- At least 16 years old,
- Not be in any other education
- Live in England.

We offer a dedicated virtual learning platform which allows learners to keep on track of their course. In addition to this, it allows our tutors and employers to keep up-to-date with the progression of learners.
